BLISS
Does time have wings?
For it flies… flies away
And leaves behind memories –
Thoughts and feelings…
A life so changed –
Swept by time and fate,
With emotions, overflowing,
Leaving behind memories.
Why does time seem to fly?
When we are together,
And you are in my arms,
When I feel your warm breath,
I feel your tender touch
And your eyes – overflowing with love,
Caress my lonely soul
With a heavenly warmth.
Why does time not slow down
And make the bliss in my heart
Linger on until I feel numb?
Why do we have to leave so soon?
When we stand hand in hand
And when I comfort you
And wipe away your tears
With my kiss…
I will keep you secure in my arms
And hold you for eternity –
Comforting you with my touch,
Wiping away every tear from your eyes.
Watching your heavenly smile
And losing myself in the depths
Of your eyes, staring at me
With endless love – pure bliss…

TRYSTS
When I sit alone on busy days
On a park-bench or on the sidewalk,
I talk to my solitude so often.
And my solitude tells me,
How it would be if you were here –
The things that we would do together,
Our laughs together, our smiles together.
And many precious moments
Never to be forgotten – just dreamed of.
I say to my solitude –
“Why are you here beside me?
And why not my love?”
When I walk alone at night
Along the long and lonely road,
I talk to the darkness around me.
And the darkness tells me,
How it would be if you were here –
You would walk beside me,
Holding my hand, and smiling,
And the warmth of your touch
Making me numb and delirious.
I say to the darkness –
“Why do you surround me?
And why not my love?”
When I wake up in the morning,
The sunlight streams through the window.
I talk to the sunbeam on my face.
And the sunbeam tells me,
How it would be if you here –
The dark lines of your eyes beckon me
And I lose myself within you.
Your sweet stare makes me oblivious
And your sweet smile caresses me.
I say to the sunbeam –
“Why do you shine on me?
And why not my love?”
When I go here and there
Or lie down and stare up,
I talk to myself and you.
And myself and you tell me,
That you are here, always…
Right here beside me, smiling…
And loving me for eternity,
Making me feel blessed and fortunate.
For you are here in my life, and beyond…
I say to myself and you –
“I have found a reason for living,
And my love, it is you…”

ODE TO .....
(The name of the poem is left incomplete for personal reasons)
As I wake up in the morning,
The sun comes shining through,
And makes me feel warm and wanted –
In the sunlight, there is you…
As the wind blows on my face
And gives me a feeling so new,
My heart grows joyful and contented –
In the wind, there is you…
As the rain falls softly on me
And the rainbow shows its hue,
I feel a calm tenderness in it –
In the rain, there is you…
As the darkness descends slowly
And the grass is covered with dew,
I feel so blissful in my heart –
In the night, there is you…
As I walk down a wet street
On a lonely night with people so few,
I never feel lonely or deserted –
Beside me, there is you…
As I walk in crowded places
Or surrounded by my milieu,
I forget the day or time –
In everything, there is you…
As I sit by the wayside
And blankly stare at the view,
Lost in your thoughts and dreams –
In my heart, there is you…
As I do everything each day
I see the world around me anew,
I feel an unworldly love –
Within me, there is you…

ME WITHOUT YOU
Can you imagine the sun
Dull and dark without its rays?
Or can you think of the moon
Without its tender, comforting light?
Do you know how spring would be
Without birds singing on the trees?
And no flowers on the branches
Of the trees devoid of leaves?
Can you think of monsoon
Without the peacock’s dance?
And of the lovely butterflies
Without their joyful hues?
Can you think of a fish without water?
Can you think of a bird without sky?
Can you think of a day without the sun?
All that is like me without you…
Can you imagine the sun
Dull and dark without its rays?
Or can you think of the moon
Without its tender, comforting light?
Do you know how spring would be
Without birds singing on the trees?
And no flowers on the branches
Of the trees devoid of leaves?
Can you think of monsoon
Without the peacock’s dance?
And of the lovely butterflies
Without their joyful hues?
Can you think of a fish without water?
Can you think of a bird without sky?
Can you think of a day without the sun?
All that is like me without you…
I WILL BE THERE
When you are happy and joyful
And when you are smiling
And everyone praises you –
I will be there.
When the world is against you
And everyone leaves you behind
To tread the long and lonely road –
I will be there.
When the sea is calm and still
And you sail to distant lands
Maybe never to come back again –
I will be there.
When the water rises high
And storm beats upon your sails
You see no land on the horizon –
I will be there.
When you are happy and joyful
And when you are smiling
And everyone praises you –
I will be there.
When the world is against you
And everyone leaves you behind
To tread the long and lonely road –
I will be there.
When the sea is calm and still
And you sail to distant lands
Maybe never to come back again –
I will be there.

DREAMS AND FANTASIES
The music still rings in my ears
And takes me back to that day –
The day of dreams and fantasies –
And of returning all the way.
A faraway world in your eyes –
A world which beckons me,
The world of dreams and fantasies –
Again I long to see.
The light shining in your hair
Still blinds me day and night.
A life of dreams and fantasies –
Can I live it as I might?
Your laughter lights up my world
And gives me hope to live.
Your songs of dreams and fantasies
Is the gift that you give.
That day is past so long ago
But its memories still remain.
An evening of dreams and fantasies –
I wish to live again.
The music still rings in my ears
And takes me back to that day –
The day of dreams and fantasies –
And of returning all the way.
A faraway world in your eyes –
A world which beckons me,
The world of dreams and fantasies –

THE STORYTELLER
The storyteller who told his stories,
His very own stories – of love,
Of loss and misfortune,
Of grief and pain,
Of his life in years past,
Is lost and gone forever
Drowned in the abyss
Of his own world.
The storyteller, who had fancies
And who loved and lost,
But still told his stories
To someone who never listened
And asked him to stop,
Is lost and gone forever
Drowned in the abyss
Of his own world.
The storyteller, who had dreams
And who spoke of his love
To which no one paid heed,
For which no one cared,
And for which he loved again,
Is lost and gone forever
Drowned in the abyss
Of his own world.
The storyteller, who is dumb now
And speaks no more of his stories
But still dreams and fancies
And loves again just to lose
And melt in the mist of indifference,
Is lost and gone forever
Drowned in the abyss
Of his own world.
The storyteller who told his stories,
His very own stories – of love,
Of loss and misfortune,
Of grief and pain,
Of his life in years past,
Is lost and gone forever
Drowned in the abyss
Of his own world.

DREAM AND REALITY
Another day in hell,
With cuts and bruises
And lacerating wounds,
Ends in desperate dreams:
Dreams in which I am measured
And judged and scrutinized.
There were dreams of darkness,
Of estrangement and indifference,
Of decadence and anonymity
And of the growing darkness,
Tearing us apart and engulfing
The space between You and Me.
And when I thought that
They were just nightmares
And I pinched myself
To wake Me up, and lo!
Can you guess what I saw?
And what I felt around Me?
It wasn’t a dream at all
But the reality staring at Me!
Or maybe the dream came true
And shattered my Neverland.
Or maybe the reality was a dream,
And the dream – a reality.
Another day in hell,
With cuts and bruises
And lacerating wounds,
Ends in desperate dreams:
Dreams in which I am measured
And judged and scrutinized.
There were dreams of darkness,
Of estrangement and indifference,
Of decadence and anonymity
And of the growing darkness,

YOU AND ME
The dark sunlight streams in
Through the half-open window,
Mocking the bright darkness within
And mocking me lying low.
Cheerful chirpings shatter the noisy silence
And whip the deserted deaf
As the dog returns from the fence
Of the house where nobody is left.
Butterflies colour the grey still life
While withered flowers wryly smile,
Leaving a trail where no one is alive
In a world of misery and guile.
The door is locked now
And the song is dead.
You know not why or how
My heart is heavy as lead.
Now You take lies for truth
And keep me away from You.
I hope it does You good
Because I still love You.
The dark sunlight streams in
Through the half-open window,
Mocking the bright darkness within
And mocking me lying low.
Cheerful chirpings shatter the noisy silence
And whip the deserted deaf
As the dog returns from the fence
Of the house where nobody is left.

While withered flowers wryly smile,

WHY?
As the darkness rises
And the sun sets in the west
Behind those tall skyscrapers,
A life full of promises
Lies quietly in rest
As lifeless as lepers.
To think of what happened
And what happens now
My heart is filled with doubt –
Has the world so darkened
That it does not know how
Pain makes her cry out?
Did you see your reflection
In the cold grey metal
And think of the pain?
Didn’t you have indecision
When you knew it might be fatal?
What could you hope to gain?
But she will brave it all
For we all pray for her –
Her heart so young and pure.
She fights on withal
As love gives up never –
Hate must perish and Love endure.
As the darkness rises
And the sun sets in the west
Behind those tall skyscrapers,
A life full of promises
Lies quietly in rest
As lifeless as lepers.
To think of what happened
And what happens now
My heart is filled with doubt –
Has the world so darkened
That it does not know how
Pain makes her cry out?

MY WORLD
Can you take me where robins sing
And the skies are always blue:
Where there’s no misgiving
And all hearts are true?
Is there a land where flowers bloom
And there’s a rainbow everyday:
Where there’s no misery and gloom
And love may have its way?
Can I be where the brook flows
Merrily down the little hill:
Where there are no sorrows
And you may do as you will?
Here, the songbird is dead,
And the skies are grey.
My heart is as heavy as lead
Cry as much as I may.
All the flowers have withered here
And the rainbow has lost its shades.
The mind is full of fear
And true love always fades.
Here all the streams have dried,
The hills are barren and brown,
Where the child has always cried:
Trying to walk but falling down.
I live in a world where
I wake up each day and find
All around me, a nightmare,
And I wish that I were blind.
The darkness of Hades surrounds me
And I think it is so strange
To love and lose for eternity:
But will my world ever change?
Can you take me where robins sing
And the skies are always blue:
Where there’s no misgiving
And all hearts are true?
Is there a land where flowers bloom
And there’s a rainbow everyday:
Where there’s no misery and gloom
And love may have its way?
Can I be where the brook flows
Merrily down the little hill:

And you may do as you will?
