YOU AND ME

The dark sunlight streams in
Through the half-open window,
Mocking the bright darkness within
And mocking me lying low.

Cheerful chirpings shatter the noisy silence
And whip the deserted deaf
As the dog returns from the fence
Of the house where nobody is left.

Butterflies colour the grey still life
While withered flowers wryly smile,
Leaving a trail where no one is alive
In a world of misery and guile.

The door is locked now
And the song is dead.
You know not why or how
My heart is heavy as lead.

Now You take lies for truth
And keep me away from You.
I hope it does You good
Because I still love You.
